Privacy at Canon & Compass

Canon & Compass keeps its handling of reader information narrow and simple.

This site asks for personal information only when a reader uses the contact form or explicitly joins the email updates list. Those two uses remain separate.

What information is collected

If you use the contact form, you may choose to provide:

  • Your name, if you want to be addressed personally.
  • Your return email address, if you want the option of a reply.
  • A subject line and message, so your communication can be understood and answered.

If you join email updates, Canon & Compass collects your email address and a record of your confirmation and subscription status. Resend may also record delivery, bounce, complaint, and engagement events needed to operate and protect the mailing list.

How that information is used

  • Direct communication only: contact form information is used only to receive your message and reply directly when a response is appropriate.
  • No account building: Canon & Compass does not use contact form submissions to create user profiles or reader accounts.
  • No mailing list use: information submitted through the contact form is not used to subscribe you to newsletters, promotions, or unrelated follow-up.
  • Updates by explicit consent: an address is added to the updates list only after the reader submits the updates form and confirms the link sent to that address.
  • Simple removal: every publication update includes an unsubscribe link handled by Resend.
  • No sale or sharing for marketing: Canon & Compass does not sell submitted contact information or use it for advertising purposes.

Storage and retention

According to the current site setup, information submitted through the contact form is not saved in a site database and is not retained for any purpose other than direct reply to a communication request.

Subscriber addresses and subscription status are stored in Resend for as long as the subscription remains active or as needed to honor an unsubscribe, complaint, or suppression request. ImproveMX forwards replies and messages sent to Canon & Compass domain addresses; it is not used as the subscriber database.

If Canon & Compass adds user accounts or expands data collection in any material way, this page will be updated to reflect that change.
